Fundraising Tips

Now that your great team is being built, there are several ways to increase your total pledges and surpass your Team’s fundraising goal:

  • Encourage registered team members to start signing up sponsors ASAP after they receive their pledge sheet. The sooner participants begin asking for support, the more sponsors they will find. Ask your teammates what prize level they are striving for.
  • Ask your company to sponsor each team member – even a small contribution can help.
  • Find out if your workplace has a matching gifts program. Some companies encourage their employee’s community involvement by matching funds raised for worthwhile causes such as the MS Society. These corporate donations count in the individual and team totals.
  • Add extra motivation by asking your company to donate prizes for your most successful team fundraiser. A nice lunch or better parking spot can be a great reward for their hard work.
  • Prepare a list of company vendors and ask them for a donation equal to 1% of your annual business. This is easier than you might think. DON’T FORGET TO SEND THEM A THANK-YOU!
  • Organize a "day off with pay ”. Get approval from your management and have your co-workers buy draw tickets to win a day off with pay.
  • Charge people at work for the privilege of “Casual Days”. People are often very willing to spend a couple of dollars to wear jeans on a Friday.
  • Set up collection jars for coins – you will be surprised how quickly loose change can add up!
  • Add a 50/50 draw to already existing staff or corporate events.
