Next Year's WALK: Sunday June 3, 2007

CONGRATULATIONS CALGARY!

Our 2006 fundraising goal was to beat our 2005 total, $560,000...With the support of over 2,500 WALKers, caring sponsors and dedicated volunteers, the 2006

Enerflex Super Cities WALK for MS has raised to date
$750,000
and pledge money is still being turned in!

We finally got a break with the weather, and our Enerflex Super Cities Walk for MS participants have already shattered last year’s record revenues [$560,000]. [We have raised $750,000 to date] for local programs and services and for research to find a cure for MS making us the largest MS WALK in Canada.”

Mark Wolff, Executive Director, MS Society of Canada,

Calgary Chapter

My family and entire team “MSisBS” are honored and extremely proud to have been a part of the 2006 Super Cities WALK for MS.   I know there is a saying, that “MS lives here”.  I have said to my 14 year old son, Levi, who was diagnosed in June 2005 after a very aggressive onset, that “MS may live here, but it’s only renting…..and it’s time to send it packing.”  The strength and positive outlook that I encountered from so many people affected by this illness who participated in the WALK regardless of their abilities, only strengthens my outlook that yes, a cure will be found, and it will be found soon.

Karen Barron, 2006 WALK Participant, Team Captain of MSisBS and mother of 14 year old Levi Barron who is living with multiple sclerosis.

Thank you Calgary for once again taking another giant leap toward a cure! You have inspired many with your passion and commitment to a cure for multiple sclerosis.

SPECIAL SPONSOR THANK YOU...

Thank you to Enerflex Systems Ltd. for their caring sponsorship and to the employees of Enerflex who once again, came through and raised over $20,000 for a cure for multiple sclerosis! More Special Thanks go to...

NEXT YEAR'S WALK SUNDAY, JUNE 3, 2007

Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 3, 2007 for the 2007 Enerflex Super Cities WALK for MS!

For too long, between 50,000 and 75,000 Canadians have suffered the devastating effects of Multiple sclerosis.  But with the help of our WALKers every year, we continue to take bigger leaps toward the cure.More than just a fundraising event, though, the Super Cities WALK is a celebration for an entire community.

The donations that pour in fund countless programs and services and research, but the event itself creates a hope-filled and fun atmosphere for everyone affected by MS while generating a greater awareness of multiple sclerosis in the public at large. Families are drawn closer together, co-workers are united for a greater good, and people gain a better understanding of what MS is and how close we are coming to eradicating it.

See you next year!

DID YOU KNOW? The Calgary Chapter consistently sends more money to the national research program than any other chapter in the country? Calgary contributed $850,000 to MS Research in 2005, $3.05 Million combined total from 2001-2005 and was the first chapter in Canada to contribute half a million to research.
