Financial Assistance
Limited financial assistance is available for persons affected by multiple sclerosis. Specific income criteria must be met to be eligible for the financial assistance. The following funding / subsidy programs are available through the support of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Calgary Chapter: Equipment Funding The Calgary Chapter provides funds to Alberta Easter Seals March of Dimes to assist in purchasing equipment for persons with multiple sclerosis who reside within the Calgary Chapter geographical boundaries. Alberta Easter Seals is responsible for the administrative aspects pertaining to the distribution of funds in the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Calgary Chapter Equipment Fund, and are to be used as last resort funding for items such as scooters, ceiling track lifts, porch lifts, power wheelchairs and technical aids. This does not include hospital beds, air conditioners or computers. To access this fund call Alberta Easter Seals at (403) 235-5662. Special Assistance Funding (SAF) The Calgary Chapter will provide funding to those affected by multiple sclerosis who reside within the Calgary Chapter geographical boundaries to obtain goods and services not covered by other funding programs in order to allow them to enhance their quality of life. In some cases, special assistance funds may also be used to augment existing services through cost share funding. Special Assistance Funding must not duplicate existing programs and assumes that all other funding has been exhausted prior to an application being made. Only one time, short-term requests will be considered therefore costs for ongoing services will not be covered. Program Subsidy Subsidies are available for any of our programs that have a fee. Persons with MS will not be excluded from programs because of financial difficulties. Subsidies for our programs can be accessed by calling our office.
