CALGARY RONA MS BIKE TOUR SETS NEW RECORD!

On June 10 & 11 you set out to “Gear Up for the Challenge” and succeeded! With 1007 registered participants we are extremely proud to announce that the 2006 RONA MS Bike Tour has exceeded all expectations and surpassed our fundraising goal of $700,000 by currently raising $900,000 and the money is still coming in.

Thanks to all of our participants, committee, volunteers and sponsors for making this achievement possible. We know that your support has made a critical difference in our mission to be a leader in finding a cure for multiple sclerosis and enabling people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life! You have made a difference!

DID YOU KNOW? The Calgary Chapter consistently sends more money to the national research program than any other chapter in the country? Calgary contributed $850,000 to MS Research in 2005, $3.05 Million combined total from 2001-2005 and was the first chapter in Canada to contribute half a million to research.

DID YOU QUALIFY FOR A GIFT CERTIFICATE?

Congratulations if you qualified for a gift certificate...that means that you have raised $750 or more for the cause!

Please notify us of your certificate choice by July 28 by contacting tammy.felix@mscalgary.org

We won’t be able to send you anything if we don’t know what your gift certificate choice is! If you don’t indicate your gift certificate choice by the end of July, you will forfeit the prize.

All gift certificates will be mailed out by mid August.

Choose your gift certificate from:

Tax Receipt

**Do you want to further help achieve our mission?…...You can choose to receive a tax receipt of equal value to substitute your prize.

PRIZE PICK UP

If you have not received your prize, please contact the MS Society at 250-7090 to confirm that the prize you qualify for is available for pick up. Due to the unexpected increase in registrations this year, we have had to place a second order for prizing. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Even though we have passed our prize and money collection deadline, we are still accepting money through out the year.

RECIPIENTS OF 'AWARD OF DISTINCTION'

The award of distinction was developed to demonstrate that the RONA MS Bike Tour draws extremely dedicated and loyal participants. It is an annual award that participants can only win once.

This year we have awarded this honor to the Reid Family. Anyone who has encountered the Reid Family will agree that they are extremely devoted to the MS Society. They have been the spokesfamily in the past, on the committee, volunteered and fundraised. They have demonstrated what it is like to truly involve the ‘whole family’ and show that they are in the fight TOGETHER!

Although we have tried to talk them out of retirement, the Reid Family have indicated that they have rode their last tour.

However, we have been told that they will still be involved with the MS Society and its fundraising, it will be just in other avenues.

Thanks Dave, Marg, Thomas and Layne Reid! You’re truly deserving of this award!
