The Enerflex Super Cities WALK for MS

Who are you WALKing for?

Yes, that really is a RONA MS Bike Tour t-shirt at the WALK

Register now for the 2008 Enerflex Super Cities WALK for MS. On Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Prince’s Island Park, join almost 3,000 Calgarians as we continue to cure multiple sclerosis, one step at a time. Choose 4, 8, 12 or 16 km to WALK toward a cure!

The Enerflex Super Cities WALK for MS is the MS Society’s largest pledge-based fundraising event with over 70,000 participants and volunteers taking part in 160 locations across Canada in the spring and early fall. The 4, 8, 12 and 16 km walking event is unique in the world of fundraising events because there is always a wheel-chair accessible route. It’s an important consideration especially for those who have multiple sclerosis. Common symptoms of MS include numbness, extreme fatigue and loss of balance.

Funds raised through events like the Enerflex Super Cities WALK for MS help provide support to people living with MS and also help drive research initiatives into the cause and cure of multiple sclerosis. In fact, a recent Canadian study has found that MS is increasing among women.

Researchers using the database developed by the Canadian Collaborative Project on Genetic Susceptibility to MS found that MS in women has approximately tripled over the past 60 years and that the female to male sex ratio now exceeds three women with MS for every one man.
